A Novel Food Freshness Assay Based on ATP Depletion Part 1

This application note demonstrates the validation and application of automated liquid handling and monochromator detection for a newly released Freshness Assay for testing animal muscle tissue (tested on fish/seafood). Our validation data indicate that the NovoCIB Precice® Freshness Assay is amenable to BioTek automated liquid handling instrumentation and monochromator detection of NADH at 340 nm in 96-well microplate format offering standard operating procedure efficiency and diverse workflow, throughput, and detection options in most any laboratory environment.

The Agilent BioTek Epoch microplate spectrophotometer has monochromator-based optics, for a filter-free, wide wavelength range for UV-Vis absorbance measurements. These measurements can be done in many microplate formats and in 2 µL samples when the available Take3 microvolume plate is used.
