Genespin Platform

  The Genespin™ platform completes the nucleic acid extraction range has been engineered to fulfill the growing demands for the highest throughputs.   Speed is of the essence when it comes to DNA analysis of plant breeding populations; whole generations must be analysed for the presence or absence of desired biomarkers in time to enable the correct plants to be used in the next generation of breeding. This creates a demand for high-throughput DNA extraction from plant tissues, with resultant purified DNA of a suitable quality for PCR-based applications. The Genespin™ enables semi-automated but high throughput DNA extractions from plant tissues, and utilises the proprietary Kleargene™ extraction chemistry.   The Kleargene spin plates utilise a glass fibre solid support inserted into a microtitre plate, in 96- and 384-well formats. To guarantee a throughput of more than 5000 extractions per day, the Genespin has been optimised to load the buffers into the spin columns without any cross-contamination. Kleargene kits are available in both 96-well and 384-well formats and are suitable for extraction of between 100ng and 5 µg DNA from plant material. oKtopure™ - Automated nucleic extraction platform

The oKtopure™ is a fully automated nucleic acid extraction instrument that enables a new level of high-throughput processing and significant cost savings. This platform combines standardised high-throughput DNA or RNA extraction from a variety of sample types with the proprietary sbeadex™ magentic bead based extraction chemistry. The oKtopure is part of our on-going programme to provide customers with high productivity solutions, first developed and optimised for use within our service labs, where every day we deliver Extraction, Sequencing and Genotyping services. Key to the delivery of consistently high quality and high yield DNA preparations from the oKtopure is its ability to bind and hold the magnetic beads, and hence the DNA in place whilst transferring the buffers required for washing, binding and elution steps. The final aqueous wash used in the sbeadex extraction protocols enables the delivery of nucleic preparations ideal for downstream applications such as SNP genotyping, NGS and Sanger sequencing.
