TRANSIL® Brain Absorption Assay with Mithras LB 940

5 Mar 2015

Designing pharmaceutical agents so that they pass the blood-brain barrier and are freely available to interact with receptors is one of the great challenges in CNS drug development. The TRANSIL® Brain Absorption assay kit has been developed to help overcome this hurdle. Since the kit is a fast high-throughput format assay, it can also be used to assess brain penetration of any non-CNS drug in secondary screening, as demonstrated in this application note.

MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications. This can reveal information on protein or gene expression, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), copy number variation (CNV), epigenetics and patient health in clinical diagnostic tests. Discover a range of microarray scanners and prefabricated antibody, protein, RNA and DNA microarrays for your analysis or consider creating your own custom microarrays with a microarray printer. This potential is identified when compounds have the desired effect, such as interaction with a target protein, during high throughput screening.Drug TestingIt is essential to test the efficacy and toxicity of drugs at every stage of their development to ensure that a pharmaceutical product is fit for purpose and safe for use before reaching the stage of mass production and distribution.
