Performing Bulk Measurements of Coffee Grounds using the Funnel Sample Feeder (FSF) for the Mastersizer 3000’s Aero S Dry Powder Disperser

26 Jul 2015

It is common practice to perform routine measurement of the particle size distribution of coffee samples produced during grinding operations, in order to monitor the consistency of the coffee grind. This has traditionally been performed using sieve analysis; a time-consuming task providing complicated measurements and a resolution which is often not high enough to detect the onset of drift within the grinding loop. This application note introduces the use of the Funnel Sample Feeder (FSF) for the Mastersizer 3000’s Aero S Dry Powder Disperser, which is capable of performing bulk measurements of coffee grounds as part of production and quality control.
