Epigenetic analysis of 6-base genome in Parkinson’s

The emergence of the ‘6-base genome’, which includes the modified bases 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and its oxidised form, 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC), marks a significant evolution in our understanding of genetic and epigenetic regulation.

In this webinar, Burleen Chhatwal from University College London, UK, demonstrates how biomodal’s 6-base genome supported the successful analysis of both 5mC and 5hmC modifications in Parkinson’s disease compared to controls in a pilot study.

Epigenetic AnalysisEpigenetic analysis products are used to study heritable phenotype changes that do not alter the DNA sequence, such as DNA modifications affecting gene activity. Determine whether genes have been methylated with DNA methylation quantification kits or methylation microarrays. Assess epigenetic regulation with histone modification kits or ChIP-on-chip microarrays. Kits are also available for bisulfite conversion and amplification of your samples, as well as epigenomic library preparation kits for next-generation sequencing (NGS). Find the best epigenetic products in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Parkinsons DiseaseEpigeneticsEpigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression. These changes are not caused by alterations to the DNA sequence. Three of the main systems responsible for the initiation of epigenetic change are DNA methylation, histone modification and non-coding RNA-associated gene silencing.NeuroscienceNeuroscience research investigates the neurological mechanisms underlying behavior, neurodegenerative diseases, and other brain conditions.
