Controlling in vivo drug transport using nanotechnology

Prof. Ijeoma Uchegbu, Professor of Pharmaceutical Nanoscience, UCL, and CSO at Nanomerics Ltd, discusses the advancements in nanotechnology over the past few decades and its pivotal role in transforming drug development. Uchegbu highlights the challenges in efficacy and patient compliance that nanotechnology aims to address and explores the innovative tools used in drug delivery. She also presents case studies in neurology and oncology, focusing on the use of specialized nanoparticles to target metastatic triple-negative breast cancer and nanoparticle systems that enable nose-to-brain delivery for effective gene expression.
