The Institute for Nutraceutical Advancement (INA) Validates GC Methods for Saw Palmetto Using Rtx®-5 and Stabilwax® Columns

28 Jan 2015

Consumer demand for natural products and dietary supplements has grown exponentially, with increasing amounts of botanical materials being used in the manufacture of a large variety of products. As the supplies and number of suppliers multiply, the consistency of raw materials has become an issue for virtually every major player in the natural products industry. This application note shows two analytical methods for the testing of neutraceuticals using the Rtx®-5 and Stabilwax columns from Restek.

Stabilwax® (Fused Silica)

Restek Corp.

General purpose columns for FAMEs, flavor compounds, essential oils, solvents, xylene isomers, and US EPA Method 603 (acrolein/acrylonitrile). Resistant to oxidative damage. Temperature range: 40°C to 260°C. Equivalent to USP G14, G15, G16, G20, and G39 phases. The polar-deactivated surface tightly binds the Carbowax® polymer and increases thermal stability, relative to competitive columns.
