Simultaneous analysis of vicinal diketones, volatile compounds and ethanol content in beer with a single headspace injection
12 Jan 2021In this application note, Shimadzu describes how the analysis of beer volatiles, diacetyl and ethanol content was carried out using the Shimadzu Beer 3-in-1 Analyzer. Shimadzu demonstrates that by using the HS-10 static headspace autosampler and GC-2014 gas chromatograph with a 2-way column adaptor, beer samples can be easily divided between two analytical lines, allowing simultaneous determination of the concentration of three types of compounds with a single injection.

Gas ChromatographyGas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantitate mixtures of small and volatile compounds. Gas chromatographs or GC systems include components such as GC columns, detectors, pumps and autosamplers. Choose from packed or capillary GC columns, flame ionization (FID), photoionization (PID) electron capture detectors and selective or non-selective detectors.
