EPA Method 8310: Solid Phase Extraction of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Water

21 Jun 2017

Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are consisted of a large group of organic compounds with two or more fused aromatic rings. This application note outlines a solid phase extraction (SPE) procedure using C18 universal cartridges to extract 16 PAHs in water. The method is simple, efficient and gives excellent recovery.

Multiple formats are available for conducting SPE, including prepacked SPE cartridges, disks and microplates, as well as SPE sorbent powders for manual packing. SPE systems can be used to automate the process and extract multiple samples at once. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and supported liquid extraction (SLE) products are also available in the same formats.
