COVID-19 agent molnupiravir

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the anti-viral drug, molnupiravir, sold under the brand name Lagevrio^®, was developed to treat mild to medium COVID-19 infection. Molnupiravir is a prodrug of the active substrate N4-hydroxycytidine (NHC), a synthetic ribonucleoside analogue. During the viral RNA replication the treatment introduces copying errors which inhibits the viral reproduction.
