Accelerated production of functional microglia from reprogrammed hiPSCs for neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation research
15 Jun 2023In this poster, bit.bio presents the generation of functional microglia from reprogrammed human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) within 10 days. These cells, called ioMicroglia, exhibit typical morphology and express key markers associated with microglia. They demonstrate consistent phagocytic function and cytokine secretion in response to various stimuli, including amyloid beta. Additionally, co-cultures of ioMicroglia with glutamatergic neurons show interactions between the two cell types. This rapid and reproducible generation of ioMicroglia provides a valuable in vitro model for studying the immune system of the central nervous system and developing therapies for neuroinflammation.

Immunology kits and analysis systems often use techniques such as ELISA, radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunodiffusion assays, Immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Immunologists use equipment such as flow Cytometers, plate readers, plate washers and fluorescent microscopes.NeuroscienceNeuroscience research investigates the neurological mechanisms underlying behavior, neurodegenerative diseases, and other brain conditions.
