SPECTROstar Nano Absorbance Plate Reader
Absorbance microplate reader from BMG LABTECH
Affordable, versatile kinetic and end point absorbance measurements for beginners and high and research alike
undergraduate practical lab courses
We are teaching hundreds of undergrad students per semester in basic biochemical lab techniques. For them we were looking for an affordable and versatile option to measure microtiter plate absorbances. We now have 6 of the SPECTROstar nano with integrates cuvette option and they are all we were hoping for. Affordable: best prize on the market and the offer was extended over the two year period we needed to raise the money for the last three instruments. Easy to use: after only one or two measurements the students use them on their own – and correctly! Additionally, research groups in the house will borrow the instruments as soon as the student courses are done to do their research experiments. Service: in the beginning we had some issues with the software programming and the technical support was always there to help within 24h. They did not send standard emails but really took us seriously and answered our questions – so the problems were resolved very quickly.

Ultra-fast, full spectrum absorbance with the SPECTROstar Nano
Instantly capture full spectra (220-1000 nm in <1 second!) for low volumes, microplates and cuvettes with the SPECTROstar Nano from BMG LABTECH.
The SPECTROstar Nano from BMG is a revolutionary microplate reader for absorbance measurements. The flexibility it provides makes it easy to perform low-volume absorbance assays at speeds like no other absorbance-only reader on the market.
- Low-volume samples with the BMG LABTECH LVis Plate (2 μL)
- Ultra-fast spectrometer to read 220 to 1000 nm in less than 1 second per well
- Compatible with all microplate formats up to 1536-well
- Also contains a standard cuvette port for individual samples
- Multi-mode shaking: linear, orbital, and double orbital
Predefined protocols also make it possible to read ELISAs, RNA, DNA, protein, cell growth and more simply at the touch of a button.
Accessories
- LVis Plate: microplate for low-volume DNA, RNA and protein quantification. It includes 16 micro-drop (2 µL) wells, a cuvette slot and optional performance testing features
- Evaluation Plate: validates the optical functionality of BMG LABTECH microplate readers for quality control and/or qualification (IQ/OQ) purposes

SPECTROstar® Nano Product Brochure
This product brochure contains information and technical specifications for the SPECTROstar®Nano – an absorbance microplate reader which can measure full spectrum absorbance (220 - 1000 nm) in less than 1 second per well in microplates, cuvettes, and low volume samples. Ideal reader for fast determination of DNA, RNA and ELISA.
DNA purity ratio – fast and easy absorbance-based evaluation of nucleic acid quality
The quantification of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) is a central step in molecular biology as downstream experiments rely on the use of adequate amounts. Following this, it is also crucial to determine the purity of DNA as it can affect the success of downstream processes.
Explore BMG LABTECH microplate readers equipped with a UV/vis spectrometer that can record full absorbance spectra (220–1000 nm) in less than 1 s/well. Discover how you can save significant time and easily assess nucleic acid quality with the simultaneous recording of multiple wavelengths.
Get the best out of your microplate reader
Discover tips and considerations for improving microplate reader measurements. Application specialists, Dr. Ann-Cathrin Volz and Dr. Martin Mangold from BMG LABTECH, discuss the impact of different plate reader parameters on data, and provide empirical evidence of their effect on data quality. They also discuss approaches to optimize microplate reader settings, and share recommendations for using BMG LABTECH's range of microplate readers.
