Bioo Scientific’s AflaPure™ Alfatoxin Total and AflaPure™ Aflatoxin M1 Column Kits are the first commercial immunoaffinity columns for aflatoxin enrichment designed to reduce cost of lab consumables by allowing regeneration between uses. The AflaPure columns can be used up to three times to detect aflatoxin in a variety of food matrices. These ready-to-use columns contain immobilized antibodies which specifically bind aflatoxins, allowing for efficient purification of aflatoxins from sample matrix impurities. The purified samples are ready for sensitive, quantitative analysis using either HPLC or ELISA analysis. The AflaPure Total Column Kit is designed for the determination of aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2) from a wide variety of food samples including corn, nuts, peanut butter and spices. The AflaPure M1 Column Kit is designed for the detection of aflatoxin M1 in milk. Each kit includes 25 columns and a detailed manual for performing the aflatoxin determination. Both the AflaPure Total and the AflaPure M1 Column Kits are available as 1 mL columns or 3 mL wide bore rapid columns.

Aflatoxins are naturally-occurring fungal toxins produced by Aspergillus mold which contaminate many types of food including spices, grains, nuts, and milk. Contamination of food with these naturally occurring aflatoxins can cause a variety of illnesses including liver cancer. Recent environmental conditions have led to a worldwide aflatoxin contamination crisis which requires faster, easier, and more cost effective solutions for aflatoxin detection.

Bioo Scientific will attend the American Spice Trade Association 2014 Annual Meeting and Exhibit Apr 27-30 in Dana Point, CA. Representatives will be available to answer any questions about using AflaPure columns to detect aflatoxin contamination in spices, and discuss upcoming Food and Feed products.

The AflaPure immunoaffinity columns are the latest additions to Bioo Scientific’s line of ELISA and strip tests for the detection of aflatoxins and other mycotoxins in food and feed samples. These kits are all manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008 (ISO CI#: SARA-2009-CA-0114-A).

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
