Product news

Bioo Scientific, a world leader in food safety testing is pleased to announce the development of two new immunoaffinity columns, AflaPure™ Total and AflaPure™ M1, for the convenient detection of aflatoxin in a variety of food and dairy samples in less than 30 minutes.

These ready-to-use columns contain immobilized antibodies which specifically bind aflatoxins allowing for efficient purification from sample matrices impurities. The purified samples are ready for sensitive, quantitative analysis using either HPLC or direct fluorometry. The AflaPure Total Kit is designed for the determination of aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2) from a wide variety of food samples including corn, nuts, peanut butter and spices. The AflaPure M1 Kit is designed for the determination of aflatoxin M1 in milk. Each kit includes 25 columns and a detailed manual for performing the aflatoxin determination.

Aflatoxins are naturally-occurring fungal toxins produced by Aspergillus mold that are present in many different types of food including grains, nuts, spices and milk. Contamination of food with these naturally occurring aflatoxins can cause a variety of illnesses including liver cancer. Recent environmental conditions have led to a worldwide aflatoxin contamination crisis which requires faster, easier and more cost effective solutions for aflatoxin detection.

The AflaPure immunoaffinity columns are the latest additions to Bioo Scientific’s line of ELISA and strip tests for the detection of aflatoxins and other mycotoxins in food and feed samples. These kits are all manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008.

ELISAEnzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), also known as enzyme immunoassays (EIA), are used for the detection and quantification of proteins, peptides and antibodies in a sample. ELISA often comes in kit format, with pre-selected antibody pairs to detect specific proteins or biomarkers of diseases such as diabetes and obesity, or cardiovascular and neurological disorders. Detection is made possible with chemiluminescent, fluorescent or colorimetric substrates and detection instruments such as microplate / ELISA readers. Other kits available include: Enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISPOT) assays for the quantification of protein-producing cells and chemiluminescent immunoassays (CLIA) kits. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
