Ubn1 rabbit antibody (pAb)
UBN1 (Ubinuclein 1, also known as HIRA binding protein) is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein that acts as a novel regulator of senescence. UBN1 is involved in the formation of senescence-associated heterochromatin foci (SAHF), which represses expression of proliferation-promoting genes. It is expressed in a number of cancer cell lines and tumors and may be required for replication-independent chromatin assembly. UBN1 is part of a large multi-subunit protein complex that interacts with CEBPA and Epstein-Barr virus BLZF1. It co-localizes with HIRA, PML and SP100 in the PML bodies of senescent cells. When overexpressed, UBN1 accumulates in the nucleus of cells defective for cytokinesis.
