SREBP-2 mouse antibody (mAb) (Clone IgG-1C6)
SREBP-1 and SREBP-2 (Sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 and 2) are members of the basic-helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper (bHLH-ZIP) family of transcription factors and are involved in the regulation of cholesterol homeostasis. SREBP-1 and SREBP-2 are normally membrane bound at the ER and nuclear envelope, but in sterol-depleted cells, the membrane-bound precursors are cleaved to generate a soluble isoforms that translocate to the nucleus. These active forms, which includes the bHLH-ZIP domain, activate transcription of genes involved in the uptake and synthesis of cholesterol.
