ING1 (Inhibitor Of Growth Family, Member 1) is a member of the inhibitor of growth (ING) family of proteins that play key roles in cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, cell aging, and the DNA damage response. ING1 contains a PHD domain that interacts with Histone H3K4me3. ING1 cooperates with p53/TP53 in the negative regulatory pathway of cell growth by modulating p53-dependent transcriptional activation. Implicated as a tumor suppressor.
