In this video, Eric Blackwood, the Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Translational Cardiovascular Research Center, shares his team's innovative approach to finding new therapeutics for heart failure. The focus is on small molecule drug-based therapies and gene therapy utilizing AAV 9, which is produced in-house. The Olympus system plays a crucial role, allowing real-time monitoring of cell proliferation and virus production, aiding preclinical models for heart failure in mice and rats. It also facilitates tracking the differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells into cardiac myocytes. The constant use of the Olympus system enables efficient planning and monitoring of experiments, ultimately contributing to the progress in understanding heart failure and therapeutic development.
