Toxicity Analysis of Hepatoxic Compounds in Primary Human Hepatocytes in 2D and 3D-Culture
16 Sept 2015Primary hepatocytes are commonly used to study drug metabolism, enzyme induction and compound hepatoxicity. In monolayer cultures, differentiation processes lead to a severe and rapid loss of liver specific functions. This poster describes a new scaffold-free, organotype 3D human liver microtissue (hLiMT) model, to enable long-term toxicity testing. Microtissues from primary human hepatocytes and non-parenchymal cells (NPCs) were produced with the GravityPLUS production technology.

Products to assist sample preparation include filtration equipment, evaporators, membranes and sieves.Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. This can reveal information on cell health (apoptosis, cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation assays), cell metabolism, cell migration and cell signaling mechanisms.
