Strategically defining operational parameters for a microcarrier-based mesenchymal stem cell expansion process within a single-use bioreactor

16 Nov 2022

In this white paper, Distek presents an elegant and scalable method for the onboarding of a simple, three-dimensional, microcarrier-based hMSC (Human mesenchymal stem cell) expansion bioreactor process. Results of the study showed an 11.9-fold culture expansion at 96.5% viability after a 6-day culture period.

BIOne 1250 Bioprocess Control Station

Distek, Inc.

BIOne 1250 Controllers are compatible with both autoclavable and single-use vessels. The systems are also capable of supporting both cell culture and fermentation processes. Standard controller options such as OPC and Additional Input & Outputs expand the capabilities of the controller. Such features provide end-users with nearly limitless process expansion potential for whatever future bioprocesses they desire to engineer.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. High-quality cells, optimized for your applications, alongside optimized cell substrates, growth medium and supplements, are critical for experimental success. Explore a range of cells suitable for your applications, including isogenic cell lines, competent cells, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell lines, fungal/bacterial/mammalian cell lines, stem cells and cancer cell lines.
