Silia<i>Cat</i>® Pd0 and Pt0: A New Class of Silica-Based Heterogeneous Catalysts

20 May 2014

SiliaCat catalysts are innovative and unique heterogeneous catalysts made of a leach-proof organoceramic matrix. The latest addition to the SiliaCat product line is a new series of organosilica physically doped with nanostructured palladium(0) and platinum(0). Results for a number of fundamental organic transformations including C-C bond formation, selective debenzylation, hydrogenation and hydrosilylation are presented in this poster.

Heterogeneous Catalysts - SiliaCat®

SiliCycle Inc.

Are you familiar with SiliCycle’s heterogeneous (silica-supported) catalysts? Gathered under the SiliaCat® brand, they are made using an innovative technology. The matrix consists of organically modified silica, described as a sol-gel hybrid organic-inorganic material. The SiliaCat family is an essential tool in the chemical manufacturing industry, as it opens the door for a “Green” and environmentally friendly synthetic route development. Recyclable and almost leach-proof, their use significantly reduces the amount of waste generated, eliminating costly downstream treatments.Because of the properties stated below, these heterogeneous catalysts are less hazardous to human health. And since they are supported, they significantly reduce the amount of handling and diminish the risks of accidents, associated with the use of their homogeneous analogs.Heterogeneous Catalysts - SiliaCat® Features & Benefits: High thermal and mechanical stability High reactivity and turnover numbers Excellent selectivity. Heterogeneous Catalysts - SiliaCat® Applications: Couplings - Suzuki - Stille - Heck - Sonogashira - Kumada Debenzylation Hydrogenation Hydrosylation Oxidation.

High-Throughput ScreeningHigh-throughput screening (HTS) is an automated drug discovery technique for identification of active compounds against a compound library. Use HTS readers and integrated assay preparation / analysis workstations to screen your compounds. Identify active compounds against various HTS libraries, including membranes, proteins and peptides and HTS cell lines. Find the best high-throughput screening products in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Flow Cytometry / Cell CountingFlow cytometers are used to count, sort and examine multiple characteristics of cells. Other cell analysis equipment includes image cytometers, cell counters, fluorescence-activated cell sorters (FACS), magnetic-activated cell sorters (MACS), and a range of flow cytometry assay kits. Flow cytometers can reveal information on cell viability, cell proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle progression, as well as identify cell populations and intracellular or cell-surface molecules. Additionally, some flow cytometers, known as FACS, have an additional sorting function after analysis. Cell counters and image cytometers count live and dead cell populations and can also conduct cell proliferation assays. Find the best flow cytometers, cell counters and cell sorters in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Solid-Phase ExtractionSolid-phase extraction (SPE) is used for clean-up, extraction and concentration of semi-volatile or non-volatile analytes from complex mixtures including blood, urine and food samples. Multiple formats are available for conducting SPE, including prepacked SPE cartridges, disks and microplates, as well as SPE sorbent powders for manual packing. SPE systems can be used to automate the process and extract multiple samples at once. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and supported liquid extraction (SLE) products are also available in the same formats. Find the best SPE, SLE and SPME equipment in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Scale-upScale-Up is generally defined as the process of transferring the results of the discovery phases of the drug discovery process, obtained on a laboratory scale, to the pilot plant and finally to production scale. Scale-Up uses reactors and pump systems as well as reagents, standards and buffers. Often Scale-Up is provided as a service by Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). CatalystPharmaceuticalsPharmaceuticals are medicinal drugs used in healthcare to diagnose, prevent, cure and treat illnesses. Pharmaceuticals that are excreted after use appear in wastewater and can have detrimental effects on the environment.Active PharmaceuticalsThe Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) of a drug is the component that causes the direct effect of the product. The remaining inactive components are known as excipients.
