Semi-automated and high-throughput homogenization technique for in-depth analysis of various tissue proteomes
23 Feb 2022This poster, presented at the SelectScience® Virtual Analytical Science Summit 2022, demonstrates the performance of a novel tissue homogenization workflow on the BeatBox platform. The demonstration investigates 1-2 mg wet-weight tissue of mouse lung, mouse brain, mouse liver or mouse heart muscle. The platform promises a high-throughput workflow for a wide range of tissue samples, optimized for low input samples, and easily combinable with LC-MS sample preparation.

Products to assist sample preparation include filtration equipment, evaporators, membranes and sieves.ProteomicsProteomics is the systemic bioinformatics study of proteins and amino acids, including their structure, size, function and identification. Tools used in proteomics include chromatography, blotting and gels, protein arrays, mass spectrometry and ELISA and associated analysis software. Analyzers and proteomic systems should be sensitive, high resolution, fast and may be automated for high-throughput.Automation Supplies / AccessoriesAutomated accessories and consumables make lab processes fast, efficient and reliable. Useful automation accessories include microplate sealers, label printers and reagent reservoirs.Animal ModelsThe use of non-human animals in experiments or behavorial observations. The research is conducted inside universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, farms, defence establishments, and commercial facilities that provide animal-testing services to industry. It includes pure research such as genetics, developmental biology, behavioral studies, as well as applied research such as pharmaceutical testing in pre-clinical, before human, studies. Homogenizers and BlendersHomogenizers and blenders are used to homogenize various types of material, including tissue, cells, plants, food, soil, biological and chemical samples for subsequent analysis. Lab equipment for sample homogenization includes handheld and benchtop homogenizers, bead mill, ultrasonic and multiple sample homogenizers, high shear homogenizers and blenders. Homogenizer bead and probe multipacks are available to avoid cross contamination of samples, as well as cooling systems for homogenizing temperature-sensitive samples. Homogenizers are often used in the first step of extraction of DNA, RNA and proteins from tissue and cell samples.
