Risk Management for LIMS Projects

28 Nov 2012

There are many Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) projects that have collapsed or failed to deliver the expected benefits. In addition many projects are significantly over budget with non-budgeted on-going costs e.g. IT consultants on site for many months after delivery of a system. Furthermore projects of this nature end up with a changed specification from that originally described. This whitepaper from Autoscribe lists some of the risks and introduces the Autoscribe approach and initiative aimed at reducing these risks.

LIMSLIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is an informatics software system used to improve the quality assurance and quality control (QA / QC) of data management. LIMS can be a standard for common lab workflows, such as commercial off the shelf systems (COTS), or customized for more specialized lab use. Systems are available for mainframe computers or PC.
