Rapid Analysis of Inks on Paper by Viewing FTIR-ATR Spectroscopy
17 Aug 2014This application note illustrates a rapid and convenient technique for the comparison of different inks on paper. The technique uses the GladiATR Vision ATR accessory capable of viewing the sampling surface. The method is non-destructive, and requires no sample preparation. Besides the study of micro-scale samples, the GladiATR Vision can analyze standard samples such as liquids, powders, granules, polymers, and other more compact solids without changing any parameter.

Infrared / IR SpectroscopyInfrared (IR) spectroscopy measures the interaction of infrared light with a sample, including transmission, reflectance & absorbance, facilitating the identification of analytes. Equipment used for quantitative analysis includes Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers, infrared cameras, FTIR gas analyzers, as well as attenuated total reflectance (ATR) accessories and pellet or film presses. Common methods include ultrasonic, magnetic-particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic, remote visual inspection (RVI), and eddy-current testing. NDT is regularly used in forensic engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, aeronautical engineering, and medicine.Attenuated Total Reflectance
