On-Site Analysis of Gasoline Range Organics (GRO) in Soil and Groundwater Using Field Portable Purge and Trap GC/FID/PID

4 Jun 2013

Leaking underground storage tanks and accidents that happened during the transportation or delivery of gasoline are significant contributors to contamination in soils and groundwater. Gasoline is highly mobile and requires continuous testing throughout the clean-up project. This often leads to bottlenecks, however these can be eliminated by high performance, on-site testing. This application note, demonstrates the Buck Scientific Series 300 and 910 Gas Chromatographs which utilize flame ionization detectors (FID) and photo ionization detectors (PID) can be used for gasoline range organics (GRO) analyses.

Gas ChromatographyGas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantitate mixtures of small and volatile compounds. Gas chromatographs or GC systems include components such as GC columns, detectors, pumps and autosamplers. Choose from packed or capillary GC columns, flame ionization (FID), photoionization (PID) electron capture detectors and selective or non-selective detectors. Useful features of analyzers such as BOD and COD include portability, easy calibration, automation and sensitivity.  Environmental test kits for pH, water, moisture, etc, should be accurate, sensitive, reliable, fast and easy to use.Soil TestingSoil testing helps determine the nutrient content, pH level, and other factors affecting soil health. This information is critical for agriculture, environmental science, and land management. It is widely used in fields like biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and environmental analysis. By exploiting differences in the interaction of substances with a stationary phase and a mobile phase, chromatography enables precise purification and quantification of compounds. Whether you're working with complex biological samples or industrial chemicals, chromatography is essential for obtaining high-quality results. These include pesticides, pharmaceuticals, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and many more.
