New monodisperse fully porous particles (MFPP) for HPLC

2 Nov 2023

In this application note, Mac-Mod presents a new development in the silica particles used in particle size distribution (psd) of chromatographic materials, a less common discussion within high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The note highlights how increased use of monodisperse stationary phases can improve monodispersity of silica particles, resulting in improved column efficiency amongst other numerous chromatographic parameters. The note also compares moving the chromatographic method from the laboratory to the production facility when using superficially porous particles (SPP), a more expensive method, to a more scalable method of production using monodisperse fully porous particles (MFPP) at affordable cost levels.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
