Measurement of ATR Spectra of Hard and Irregular Shaped Solid Samples Using the Specac Quest ATR Accessory

19 Jun 2016

A plastic or polymer sample type can be analyzed as it is, using the ATR spectroscopic technique for collection of a representative IR spectrum. This obviates the need for a timely sample preparation method for a transmission spectral measurement, if the reflection technique for qualitative and quantitative analysis of the sample is sufficient. Specac’s Quest ATR accessory can be used to obtain as wide a spectral transmission range of light frequency collection for an irregular shaped, hard solid sample as possible.

Natural polymers such as DNA and proteins are essential to life, whereas synthetic polymers such as polystyrene and polyethylene are used widely due to their functionality. Typical techniques for analysis include GPC, SEC, DSC, FT-IR and NMR.Infrared Imaging
