Low Propensity of Resistance Development Against Novel Combination Miconazole-Nisin (1:8) in Clostridium Difficile Strains Isolated from Humans

24 Jul 2016

This poster describes how the anti-clostridial activity of the novel combination miconazole-nisin against toxigenic and non-toxigenic C. difficile strains was measured and reports on the absence of resistance development over a 14-day passage. The resistance development profile of this combination compares very favourably against vancomycin, the current treatment choice for severe infections caused by C. difficile.

MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments. Plate processing systems include microplate handlers for moving plates, heat sealers, stackers and carousels for storage, retrieval and delivery, microplate washers and piercers. Useful features of plate processors include walk-away automation, compatibility and easy integration with microplate systems.Drug Resistance
