LC-MS/MS Analysis in Immunosuppressant Drug Research using EVOQ™ Elite LC-MS/MS System

6 May 2014

This application note describes an LC-MS/MS research method for the analysis of four immunosuppressant drugs, namely, tacrolimus, sirolimus, everolimus, and cyclosporine A, in the plasma. The method is sensitive to detect 0.5 ng/mL level of tacrolimus, sirolimus, everolimus, and 10 ng/mL of cyclosporine A.

LC-MSLC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) systems and equipment are used for separation and quantitative analysis of complex mixtures, combining liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. Drug delivery is often approached via the biopharmaceutical or small molecule drug's formulation, but it may also involve medical devices or drug-device combination products. Considerations include instrumentation, software and services. PharmaceuticalsPharmaceuticals are medicinal drugs used in healthcare to diagnose, prevent, cure and treat illnesses. Pharmaceuticals that are excreted after use appear in wastewater and can have detrimental effects on the environment.Pharmacokinetics
