Increased Resolution of Propylene Glycol Impurities with High-Efficiency GC Column Dimensions and Zebron™ ZB-WAXPLUS™

7 Apr 2016

This investigation by Phenomenex looks at the effect of varying column dimensions when performing gas chromatography, the study used propylene glycol impurity testing with a Zebron ZB-WAXPLUS GC column as an example. The dimensions of the columns in included length, internal diameter and film thickness, varying these dimensions can affect the efficiency of the process leading to inaccurate results.

100% Aqueous Stability for Polar Compounds100% aqueous stable, excellent for aqueous samples; bonded and solvent rinseableExtremely inert for acidic compoundsEnhanced selectivity for low boiling solvents; high retention of alcohols and chlorinated solventsIncreased efficiency at 20 °CZB-WAXplus provides optimal selectivity for many aqueous soluble compounds such as those found in alcoholic beverages or glycol samples. The ZB-WAXplus bonding process results in exceptional stability to repeated injections of aqueous matrices like whiskey. Multiple or routine water injections will not alter the efficiency or polarity of the phase over time.Recommended UseAlcohols, Aldehydes, Aromatics, Essential Oils, Flavors & Fragrances, Free Fatty Acids, Glycols, OVIs, Pharmaceuticals, Solvents / Residual Solvents, Styrene, Xylene IsomersEnhanced Aqueous Stability

AutosamplersAutosamplers are automated sample loaders used with a number of separation and analytical techniques. HPLC autosamplers use automated partial or full-loop injection systems and place samples in vials or microplates for analysis. Autosamplers can also be used for elemental analysis. Features to consider include repeatability, syringe capacity, footprint and temperature controls.  Gas ChromatographyGas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantitate mixtures of small and volatile compounds. Gas chromatographs or GC systems include components such as GC columns, detectors, pumps and autosamplers. Choose from packed or capillary GC columns, flame ionization (FID), photoionization (PID) electron capture detectors and selective or non-selective detectors.
