Improved Efficiencies in Total Organic Carbon Wastewater Analysis

2 Jan 2015

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) measurement is of vital importance to the operation of water treatment due to organic compounds comprising a large group of water pollutants. TOC has been around for many years, and although it is a relatively simple analysis in theory, operational efficiency is paramount. Laboratories are continually looking to increase sample throughput, decrease overall cost of analysis, and improve ease of use while maintaining reproducibility. This application note will demonstrate the ability to test groundwater and wastewater samples with a >25% improvement in laboratory efficiency, following Standard Method 5310B and USEPA Method 415.1 guidelines.

Lotix Combustion TOC Analyzer

Teledyne Labs

Tekmar's Lotix TOC Combustion analyzer is designed to accurately measure carbon content in aqueous matrices down to the ppb level. It uses proven high temperature combustion, oxidation of carbon material into carbon dioxide, and detection using a new Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) detector. Lotix is the ultimate solution for waste water, drinking and surface water, ground water, sea water, and other hard to oxidize matrices with an economical price to fit any budget. This instrument is best suited for the following Methods EPA 415.1, 415.3 and 9060A, Standard Method 5310B, EP 2.2.44, ISO 8245,EN 1484, USP 643 (Chapter 24), ASTM D2579, prENV 13370, AOAC 973.47
