Improve Throughput and Productivity with Chromatography Well Plates

Improve Throughput and Productivity with Chromatography Well Plates

2 Nov 2015

This study has been undertaken to identify low extraction 96-well deep well plates that are suitable for use with high sensitivity chromatographic methods. Mass spectral data shows that persistent contamination from a range of compounds found in the raw polymer master batch is evident in many of the micro plates tested.

Thermo Scientific™ SOLAµ™ Solid Phase Extraction 96 Well Plates

Thermo Fisher Scientific

Remove variability and optimize high throughput laboratory workflows. Thermo Scientific™ SOLAµ™Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) Well Plates are designed for bioanalytical and clinical research analysts who require cleaner, highly reproducible, and robust sample extraction using very low sample and solvent volumes in high throughput workflows. SOLAµ Well Plates achieve this due to the unique and award winning innovative frit-less SPE technology.Bioanalytical laboratories continue to drive to higher efficacy drugs and long acting formulations which require lower quantification limits. There is also the desire to take advantage of the replacement, refinement and reduction policy which is resulting in reduced animal model use. The growth of biopharmaceuticals also brings into consideration additional analytical issues such as solvation and non-specific binding.Features & Benefits: Processing of low sample volumes High sensitivity due to low elution volumes High reproducibility Low analytical sample failures Ease of use High throughput processing

Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules based on the mass-to-charge ratio of gas-phase ions. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications. Common methods include ultrasonic, magnetic-particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic, remote visual inspection (RVI), and eddy-current testing. NDT is regularly used in forensic engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, aeronautical engineering, and medicine.Plate ProcessingAutomated plate processing is used in microplate technologies for high-throughput, speed and efficiency. Plate processing systems include microplate handlers for moving plates, heat sealers, stackers and carousels for storage, retrieval and delivery, microplate washers and piercers. Useful features of plate processors include walk-away automation, compatibility and easy integration with microplate systems.Contamination PreventionContamination prevention aims to control and minimize the risk of contamination during experiments. Biological safety cabinets and sterilization equipment are examples of technologies used to prevent contamination.PolymersPolymers are large molecules made up of many repeat units. Natural polymers such as DNA and proteins are essential to life, whereas synthetic polymers such as polystyrene and polyethylene are used widely due to their functionality. Typical techniques for analysis include GPC, SEC, DSC, FT-IR and NMR.Trace Level ImpuritiesTrace level impurities refer to low concentrations of unwanted substances found in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other products.
