Impressive Yarra 1.8µm SEC-X150 Column Stability After 100 Hours of Harsh Conditions

Impressive Yarra 1.8µm SEC-X150 Column Stability After 100 Hours of Harsh Conditions

1 May 2016

With HPLC/UHPLC system versatility, a large separation range, Bio-Inert hardware, and high efficiencies, Yarra 1.8 µm SEC-X150 columns bring an amazing set of performance advantages to the analyses of biomolecules by aqueous size exclusion chromatography (SEC). In the development and manufacturing process of the Yarra SEC-X150, extreme care was dedicated to producing stable performance over longer lifetimes than other size exclusion columns on the market have produced. This extended lifetime affords scientists the potential to save significant time and money in addition to the savings already realized by highly affordable list prices. This application note demonstrates a stability investigation using a combination of parameters to create harsh testing conditions. It is important to note that column failure was not actually achieved after this study was completed.

Yarra Ultra-High Efficiency Aqueous GFC/SEC Columns

Starting with 3 µm ultra-pure silica, Yarra particles are densely bonded with a proprietary surface chemistry. Coupled with tight particle and pore size distribution as well as strict packing and QC specifications, Yarra GFC columns allow for the highest efficiencies and resolution possible. Yarra columns are offered in three phases (SEC-2000, 3000, and 4000), and are ideal for the separation of small to large proteins, as well as biological therapeutics and biosimilars.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. SEC is further subdivided into gel filtration chromatography (GFC) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) when an aqueous or organic mobile phase is used respectively. HPLC-based SEC systems and columns are available for analytical separation alongside SEC spin columns or filters to prep samples for many protocols.
