How PCR Cyclers Temperature Performance May Influence the Generated Results

21 Sept 2015

PCR Cyclers exhibit specific “typical” temperature performance behavior based on the incorporated technology. Furthermore, within the population of one type of cycler and technology there is still a substantial variation in temperature performance. Variation in performance within one instrument type as well as variation in performance between different instrument types may result in nontransferable “protocols” and possible incorrect results. This phenomenon is particularly critical for those laboratories which have SOPs in place and which need to comply to regulations which do not allow changing protocols without proper and solid investigations. This application note compares the Liquid\Vapor Compression technology from ABI type 9600 versus the ABI type 9700 which is based on Peltier technology.
