High-Throughput Extraction of Opiates from Urine using Strata™-X-C SPE and Analysis by GC/MS or LC/MS/MS

In this application note Phenomenex describe a solid phase extraction method for the extraction and analysis of opiates from a urine sample. This method reduces the time taken when analyzing the sample and leads to improved chromatographic results by GC/MS or LC/MS/MS. The experiment was performed using Kinetex and Zebron columns from Phenomenex and an Applied Biosystems® API 3000™. Presence of opiates is routinely tested as they are addictive in nature, during testing presence of non-target opiates which have similar mass ions can cause incorrect readings. The method in this application note cleans up the sample and provides more accurate results.
