High-Density Escherichia Coli Fermentation and Protein Production Using the Eppendorf BioFlo 120 Bioprocess Control Station

In this application note, Eppendorf describes the successful quantification of cell density and protein production in a fed-batch fermentation of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-expressing E.coli, using the BioFlo 120 Bioprocess control station. Cell density was measured by monitoring optical culture density, and protein production by GFP fluorescence. This application note also demonstrates the suitability of BioFlo 120 for high-density fermentation, enabling high protein titers to be reached, as well as highlighting the flexibility available to users with vessels and culture conditions.
