Full-length 16S rRNA Gene Sequencing Using PacBio RS II
24 Jul 2017The 16S rRNA gene exhibits an alternating structure of conserved and hypervariable regions which is commonly used for the identification of the bacterial composition of a variety of samples. INVIEW MICROBIOME High Specificity is based on the notion that with a length of about 1,500 base pairs, the full 16S rRNA gene is a perfect candidate for Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT) Sequencing with the PacBio RS II system. The current experimental design allows for multiplexing of up to 10 samples in a single SMRT Cell. With a data output of at least 25,000 Reads of Insert (ROI), the total price per sample is drastically reduced.

MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
