Extraction of DNA from Rayon and Flocked Swab
11 Jul 2011In this application note, Sterilin compare new flocked swabs with traditional rayon swabs by analysing the amount of genomic DNA extracted from buccal cell samples. The most efficient method to release the sample from the swab was determined. Once optimised, flocked and rayon buccal swabs were taken from nine individuals and the genomic DNA extracted and measured to determine the efficiency of the flocked compared to the standard rayon swab.
