Expansion of Primitive Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells

Expansion of Primitive Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells

20 Nov 2015

Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSC / HPC) represent a heterogeneous population of primitive blood progenitor cells that fall into several different classes. Within the human body, they are mainly located in the bone marrow of adults, but are also found in various fetal tissues, e.g. umbilical cord blood, placenta and fetal liver. It is known that in vivo HSC are able to expand to very large numbers of daughter cells by virtue of their pronounced self-renewal abilities. However, to date researchers faced difficulties during in vitro expansion of undifferentiated HSC, with increasing differentiation of the cells. This application note demonstrates the use of PromoCell HPC Expansion Medium DXF to provide a more consistent culture environment.

Cell / Tissue CultureCell culture or tissue culture is used to study the biology of cells or tissues and to isolate cellular products in an environment which can be manipulated and well defined. Accurately control your culture environment with bioreactors or culture incubators, bind your cells to a surface or together with an extracellular matrix. Distinguish cell types with differential media or proliferate cells with certain characteristics using selective media. Enrich your media with supplements such as growth factors, sera and vitamins. High-quality cells, optimized for your applications, alongside optimized cell substrates, growth medium and supplements, are critical for experimental success. Explore a range of cells suitable for your applications, including isogenic cell lines, competent cells, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell lines, fungal/bacterial/mammalian cell lines, stem cells and cancer cell lines. Stem cell research has exciting prospects of biomedical applications in cellular disease modeling, pharmaceutical screening, and regenerative medicine. Stem Cell DifferentiationCell GrowthCell growth refers to the process by which cells increase in size and number. It is essential for tissue development, wound healing, and cancer research.
