Electrophysiological recordings of Ec-ClC activity on the SURFE²R N1

24 Nov 2020

In this application note, Nanion presents Ec-ClC activity measurements on the SURFE2R N1 instrument using proteoliposomes reconstituted with purified Ec-ClC at different lipid-to-protein ratios. This assay can easily be adapted for other transporters of the ClC family and provides a useful tool in future drug discovery.

SURFE²R N1

Nanion Technologies GmbH

The SURFE²R N1 is an automated analysis device for the measurements of electrogenic transporters (symporters, exchangers and uniporters) and pumps. It employs the label-free, SSM-based electrophysiology technology, achieving a throughput of 150 datapoints per day.

ElectrophysiologyElectrophysiology is the study of biological voltage changes, from a single ion channel through to a whole organ scale. Voltages can be measured using patch clamping, automated workstations, electrophysiology rigs or cell based assays. Specific cell lines, manipulators and microinjectors are also available for electrophysiology research.
