Electrochemistry in the Quality Control of Food and Beverage Packaging
14 May 2015The shelf life of foods and beverages depends to a great extent on the packaging material. Metals are ideally suited for this purpose, as they can be coated with different passivating food-grade layers. In this white paper, electrochemical measurements such as impedance spectroscopy were used to monitor the integrity of the sealing layers in food and beverage packaging.

Autolab PGSTAT302N
Metrohm AGThis modular high current potentiostat/ galvanostat, with a compliance voltage of 30 V and a bandwidth of over 1 MHz, combined with our FRA2 module, is specially designed for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The PGSTAT302N is the succesor of the popular PGSTAT30. The maximum current is 2 A, the current range can be extended to 20 A with the BOOSTER20A, the current resolution is 30 fA at a current range of 10 nA. With a special modification, the PGSTAT302N also offers the possibility to perform Dynamic iR compensation.
