Diagnostic Determination of Biotinidase Activity Using AcroPrep™ Advance Filter Plates

13 Dec 2010

This application note demonstrates a method of testing for Biotinidase deficiency in newborn babies. Variability in plate performance introduces the need for repeat testing, added costs, and delays for a diagnosis. The AcroPrep Advance filter plates have been optimized for use in screening tests and demonstrate reproducible performance, providing accurate screening results.

AcroPrep™ Advance Filter Plates for Ultrafiltration

Pall Life Sciences - Laboratory, Food, Beverage

AcroPrep™ Advance Filter Plates for Ultrafiltration Provides rapid, efficient separation of biomolecules. Omega™ membrane provides high recovery and typically results in > 90% recovery of target biomolecules. New well design results in faster, more uniform filtration rates across the plate with reduced hold-up volume for maximum sample recovery Intrinsic plate and membrane properties prevent target molecules from binding to the plate. Application: Size exclusion, PCR clean-up, Nucleic acid purification, Protein separation.

FiltrationFiltration and microfiltration are used to separate solids, particulates or large molecules from fluids (liquid or gases) in order to purify the filtrate. Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices. Used in conjunction with high-throughput screening, the libraries of stored compounds are often generated for specific purposes as a drug target or disease model. Cheminformatics are commonly used when designing a compound library and software can be used to analyze the screening process.  Point-of-CarePoint-of-Care Testing (POCT) or Near Patient Testing (NPT) products are available for urine, blood and other clinical chemistry analyses. POCT includes: blood glucose testing, blood gas and electrolytes analysis, rapid coagulation testing (PT / INR), rapid cardiac markers diagnostics, drugs of abuse screening, urine strips testing, pregnancy testing, fecal occult blood analysis, food pathogens screening, hemoglobin diagnostics, infectious disease testing and cholesterol screening.Clinical TrialsClinical Trials, an essential part of drug discovery process, assess the safety and effectiveness of a new medication or device in the pharmaceutical industry. Clinical Trials are a phased process (Phase 0, Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV) which begins after initial preclinical testing.
