Curing Determination of EVA for Solar Panel Application by DSC
2 Feb 2015A photovoltaic module or system consists of many jointly connected solar cells. The cells are encapsulated by a polymer encapsulant. Many different materials can be used for encapsulation, but one commonly used encapsulant for this purpose is EVA (ethylene-vinyl-acetate). This study shows that the DSC 8000 from PerkinElmer can be used to study the curing degree of the EVA resin by measuring the residual curing enthalpy; ensuring great accuracy and true isothermal measure.

Thermal Analysis EquipmentThermal analysis equipment is used for measuring heat flow, weight loss, dimension changes or thermomechanical properties and is important for analyzing a material’s performance and stability. Thermal analysis equipment includes differential scanning calorimeters (DSC), thermogravimetric analyzers (TGA), thermomechanical analyzers (TMA), dilatometers, thermometers, vapor sorption analyzers, boiling and melting point apparatus. Thermal analyzers can reveal properties such as melting, crystallization and glass transitions or other processes such as oxidation, decomposition, volatilization, as well as coefficients of thermal expansion and modulus.
