Corning® BioCoat High Content Imaging Glass Bottom Microplates for High Throughput Data Capture and Analysis

4 Aug 2015

Corning® BioCoat high content imaging glass bottom microplates are ideal for performing cell-based imaging assays where cell attachment or retention may be an issue with a standard glass microplate. The BioCoat high content imaging microplates are available pre-coated with rat tail collagen type I, human fibronectin, or poly-D-lysine. This application note describes the benefits and applications of Corning® BioCoat microplates.

Corning® BioCoat™ Collagen I 384-well Black/Clear Flat Bottom Microplate, w/Lid, 20/Pack, 80/Case

Corning Life Sciences

Collagen I, found in most tissues and organs, is most plentiful in dermis, tendon, and bone. It is an integral part of the framework that holds cells and tissues together and has been recognized as a useful matrix for improving cell culture. in vitro use of collagen can exert effects on the adherence, morphology, growth, migration, and differentiation of a variety of cell types. Applications include:Promotion of cell attachment and spreadingRapid expansion of cell populationsSerum-free or reduced serum cultureCell adhesion assaysImproving survival of primary cells in cultureSourceRat tail tendonQuality ControlTested for ability to promote attachment and spreading of HT-1080 human fibrosarcoma cellsTested and found negative for bacteria and fungiCollagen I purity >90% by SDS-PAGEStorage4°C to 30°C under dry conditions.

MicroplatesMicroplates are multi-well plates used to increase the throughput of biological investigations. The number of wells microplates contain can range from 6 to 3243 wells, with the 96-well format being the most commonly used. Microplates can come tailored for a range of applications including cell culture, PCR, filtration, storage, non-binding surface, protein crystallization, as well as pre-coated, deep well and normal Standard microplates. Additionally, options for microplate colors include clear , black, white or black with clear bottom and white with clear bottom for absorbance microplate reader applications.
