Compression test of a living cell
17 Jul 2023Infection and disease frequently result in variations in the mechanical properties of living cells. Quantitative nanomechanical tests of cell membrane stiffness can help identify if and how a single cell was affected. In this application note, Bruker Nano utilizes a Hysitron® TI Series TriboIndenter® to perform compression tests on a single cell with a diamond fluid cell 100 μm flat end 90° conical probe.

Light MicroscopyLight microscopes or optical microscopes are used to visualize microscale objects under magnification, including cells, clinical specimens and materials. Lab equipment for light microscopy includes confocal microscopes, fluorescence microscopes, zoom and stereo microscopes. Microscope slides and imaging reagents are available for visualizing samples, as well as various microscope stages and incubators for large or temperature-sensitive samples. Find the best light microscopes in our peer-reviewed product directory: compare products, check customer reviews and receive pricing direct from manufacturers.Fluorescence MicroscopyFluorescence microscopy has become an essential tool in biology, as well as in materials science. The application of many fluorochromes has made it possible to identify cells and sub-microscopic cellular components with a high degree of specificity. Using multiple fluorescence labels, different probes can simultaneously identify several target molecules.Cell AnalysisThe analysis of cells allows researchers to understand the factors which contribute to cell health and function. These influencing processes can then be predicted and altered, leading to the development of medication and disease treatments.Single Cell AnalysisSingle-cell analysis involves studying individual cells to gain insights into their behavior, gene expression, and function. This approach is valuable in cancer research, stem cell biology, and immunology. Explore single-cell analysis products in our peer-reviewed product directory; compare products, check reviews, and get pricing directly from manufacturers.Infectious DiseasesInfectious diseases are caused by pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Effective detection, prevention, and treatment are crucial to control outbreaks and improve public health. Diagnostic tools, vaccines, and antimicrobial treatments are essential components of managing these diseases. Research into emerging pathogens and resistance patterns continues to evolve. Browse our peer-reviewed product directory to find the best diagnostic tools, prevention solutions, and treatment options; compare products, read customer reviews, and get pricing directly from manufacturers.
