Comparison of the Sensitivity of TaKaRa Taq™ and TaKaRa Ex Taq® for Detection of Helicobacter pylori in Patient Samples

1 Oct 2014

Conventional detection of H. pylori in gastric biopsy specimens relies upon culture methods. PCR methods are now recognized as an effective alternative. This application note compares the performance of TaKaRa Taq™ and TaKaRa Ex Taq® in identifying H. pylori in patient samples.

Takara PCR Kits and Reagents

Takara Bio

Takara produce a host of products for PCR Takara’s new sensitive qPCR premixes contains TLi RNase H and are developed to address the inhibitory effect on the PCR due to the presence of remaining RNA after cDNA synthesis. PrimeSTAR®, a non-Taq polymerase with high proofreading activity are now available in a high speed version, PrimeSTAR Max, with extension rate of less than 5 sek/kb and PrimeSTAR GXL, that amplifies up to 30 kb.

Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
