Comparison of Normal and Asthmatic Bronchial Epithelial Cells and Smooth Muscle Cells in Monolayer and RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System
3 Jan 2017To compare the behavior of cells in the RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System, in contrast to the traditional 2D culture system, this application note describes the study of Human Bronchial Epithelial (HBE) Cells and Bronchial Smooth Muscle Cells (BSMC) from normal and asthmatic donors. In addition to analyzing mono-cultures of the two cell types in both systems, the RAFT™ 3D Cell Culture System allowed easy co-culture of the two cell types in a physiological orientation with the BSMC embedded in the RAFT™ Collagen and the HBE as a confluent cell layer on top of the BSMC-collagen matrix.
