Brief HPLC analysis of hydrocortisone in accordance with the United States Pharmacopeia
10 Mar 2023Hydrocortisone is the pharmaceutical term for cortisol used in oral administration, intravenous injection, or topical application. It is often used as an immunosuppressive drug, given by injection, in the treatment of severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis and angioedema. The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) provides monographs for the identification and impurity testing of the drug substances. This application note describes the use of PerkinElmer Epic™ C18, Epic™ C18 SD (highly base deactivated high carbon super dense phase), and Epic™ Polar (150 x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) columns, coupled with the PerkinElmer LC 300 liquid chromatography system and SimplicityChrom™ Chromatography Data System (CDS), for the assay analysis of hydrocortisone.

Gas ChromatographyGas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantitate mixtures of small and volatile compounds. Gas chromatographs or GC systems include components such as GC columns, detectors, pumps and autosamplers. Choose from packed or capillary GC columns, flame ionization (FID), photoionization (PID) electron capture detectors and selective or non-selective detectors. It is widely used in fields like biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and environmental analysis. By exploiting differences in the interaction of substances with a stationary phase and a mobile phase, chromatography enables precise purification and quantification of compounds. Whether you're working with complex biological samples or industrial chemicals, chromatography is essential for obtaining high-quality results. Browse our peer-reviewed product directory to find the best chromatography systems, compare products, read customer reviews, and get pricing directly from manufacturers.Trace Level ImpuritiesTrace level impurities refer to low concentrations of unwanted substances found in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other products. Detecting and removing these impurities is crucial for product safety and regulatory compliance.
