Automated Hepatotoxicity Testing Using in vitro 3D Bioprinting
27 Jun 2018To meet the demand for increased hepatotoxicity testing, automation has been incorporated to streamline the procedure and reduce the need for large-scale manual manipulations. This application note describes how to combine liquid handling with a novel cell imaging multi-mode reader to perform automated 3D hepatotoxicity studies.

From making bespoke equipment and replacing broken parts, to fabricating biological structures that imitate natural tissue characteristics, 3D printers can be used for a broad range of applications. 3D Cell CultureCulturing cells in three dimensions allows more physiologically relevant observations to be made regarding cellular interactions and gene expression. 3D models provide a more accurate representation of cells in vivo and are more stable than 2D cultures, making them very useful for long-term studies.HepatotoxicityHepatocytes
