Analysis of Theophylline and Ibuprofen Pharmaceutical Samples Using the Specac Quest ATR Accessory

12 Jun 2016

For collection of Infra Red spectral data of liquid or solid samples it is desirable to achieve a spectral range extending from 4000cm-1 to 400cm-1. Traditionally the quality of the spectrum produced is wholly dependent on the sample type and structural integrity of the liquid cells or KBr pellets. In this application note, an alternative method for spectral collection using the Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) technique is described. The Specac Quest™ ATR accessory allows the measurement of wide range of pharmaceutical sample types be they solid, semi-solid or liquid in nature and the spectral data can be collected for the sample over the frequency region between 4000cm-1 to 400cm-1 if this is a mandatory requirement.
